Glikobalans (Glycobalance)
- Balances blood sugar level
- Helps maintain a normal blood sugar level
- Contributes to the normal metabolism of sugar and insulin

Problems concerning optimal blood sugar levels are unfortunately becoming more common. This applies worldwide, and here in Macedonia the problem is definitely one of the most significant public health challenges.
Patients with impaired glycemia are the main focus of Dr. Mitov's work. At the core of our approach is relying on the natural approach - changing our lifestyle habits.
Experiences show numerous positive examples, and sometimes even a total remission in our patients.
The efforts to find a natural formulation that will successfully contribute to the regulation of sugar were in this direction. After a long research, Dr. Mitov chose the supplement with the formulation that has the strongest effect in normalizing blood sugar - the white mulberry leaf extract. It is based on natural components that, even in our intestines, prevent the breakdown and then the entry of sugars into the bloodstream.
The white mulberry leaf (Morus alba) has been used in nutrition and traditional medicine for centuries. It belongs to the Moraceae family, which includes, for example, the fig. We are talking about a well-known herb, because it has been growing for many years all over our country. This means that the tree thrives in a moderate climate, so it is also found in other regions with a similar climate to ours, such as the Mediterranean region.
In addition to the leaves, the fruit, as well as other parts of the plant, such as the root, are often used medicinally.
Numerous studies associate the leaves of the white mulberry (or their extract) with a laxative effect, antibacterial effect, immunomodulation, anti-inflammatory effect, some protective effects regarding the liver, etc. However, more recent studies say that the strongest effect is in the regulation of blood sugar levels.
The most important components in the leaves of white mulberry (Morus alba)
The leaves of the white mulberry have a complex composition that includes many important phytochemicals.
However, their positive effect is when they are concentrated, i.e. in an extract.
List of some of the most important components of white mulberry:
- Morin
- Loliolide (Loliolide) - found in quite high concentrations
- Chalcomoracin (Chalcomoracin)
- Morachalcone (Morachalcone)
- Luteolin and Apigenin
- Pheophorbide A methyl ester
- Caffeic acid
- Imino sugars, such as 1-deoxynojirimycin - 0.62-1.61mg/g (young leaves) or 0.47-0.96mg/g (older leaves); D-fagomine - 25-103 mg/kg
- Rutin
- Chlorogenic acid (Chlorogenic acid)
- Volatiles
- Numerous flavonoids, phenols, etc.
It is evident from this composition that the white mulberry is a potent plant with numerous effective phytochemicals with strong antioxidant properties (especially when derived in the form of an extract, such as in Glicobalans)
Health benefits of Glikobalans:
Has a proven mechanism of action for reducing sugar levels
Minimized side effects
Aids weight loss

Why is it important to maintain optimal and healthy blood sugar levels?
Managing or regulating blood sugar is an important thing for every individual, and especially for people with prediabetes and diabetes. For people with pre-diabetes, for example, it can be a reason and a chance for prevention, before it transitions to type 2 diabetes!
Balanced fluctuation (changes) in blood glucose (without sudden peaks and falls), helps us feel better, more focused, feel full for longer periods of time and helps us avoid sugary foods and drinks.

White mulberry leaf extract – extraordinary effect in terms of optimizing blood sugar levels!
A study by the company "Nestle", which itself has a product based on white mulberry leaf extract, shows really interesting, promising results.
Namely, this extract stimulates a whole "cascade" of effects that positively reflects on the overall metabolic response.
This includes:
Healthier levels of glucose and insulin in the blood, improved glucose levels after meals, improved feeling of satiety, support of the weight loss process, healthier intestinal microbiome and a better lipid profile (triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood).
Mechanism of action for reducing sugar
The extract acts as a kind of substrate, or a „target“ for the digestive enzymes called alpha glucosidases, preventing their natural effect in the small intestine - digesting the carbohydrates taken with the meal. By doing this, a large part of the carbohydrates pass through digestion without being "processed" and they never enter the bloodstream, which in turn prevents potential peaks of glucose and insulin in the blood.
This effect proved to be particularly strong and efficient. The important thing is that the supplement can enter the small intestine together with the food. That is why it is very crucial to consume supplements based on white mulberry leaf extract in a precisely defined time interval - exactly before the meal (15 minutes).

Minimized side effects
Unlike other components with a similar digestive effect (carbohydrate blocking), such as beans, residual white mulberry extract can be absorbed into the bloodstream and excreted through the urine, via the kidneys, without any problems. Unabsorbed components with a blocking effect on carbohydrates can lead to minor or major gastrointestinal discomfort.
Aiding in easier weight loss!
White mulberry leaf contains numerous secondary plant metabolites with positive health effects.
These metabolites, for example, are iminosaccharides (we have already listed them above) that emit the effect of monosaccharides (sugars), meaning they react with the enzymes and receptors involved in carbohydrate digestion, limiting their effect on the present long-chain carbohydrates. We know that without being simplified, long-chain carbohydrates cannot pass into the blood.
According to clinical research, the white mulberry leaf extract significantly reduces the glycemic index of any ingested food with just one dose of 250mg. The best effect was observed with maltodextrin, a polysaccharide from corn starch, where the GI decreased by as much as 55%.
Other studies show that this extract reduces postprandial (after meal) glucose levels by 42%, which further leads to a 41% reduction in insulin levels.
Lower insulin levels help the body to more easily "burn" stored fat and reduce the levels of glucose stored as adipose tissue. This way, the white mulberry leaf extract indirectly helps in the weight loss process.
